Osmaneli Historic Houses
Osmaneli, Bilecik
Streets of restored 19th-century Ottoman mansions in the old town of Lefke on the banks of the Sakarya River.
Its story
Osmaneli is a historic town known as Leukai in the Byzantine period and as Lefke in the Ottoman period. In the town center, dozens of 19th-century mansions with bay windows and wide eaves have been restored and preserved. Mansions such as Ahmet Muhtar Ağa, Gamalı Ali and Göllüler reflect the regional features of Ottoman civil architecture. The town's Rüstem Paşa Mosque, old han and Aya Yorgi Church complete this fabric. Osmaneli quince and the geographically indicated quince lokum make a tasty souvenir of the visit.
