Its story
Ayıkayası was declared a nature park on 29 August 2014; its boundaries were updated in 2023 to reach 446 hectares. It is at about km 28 of the main road from Bolu to Yedigöller and forms a single forest whole with the Yedigöller National Park to its east. Natural beech and Scots pine forests, mixed fir-beech stands and forest clearings are the resource values of the area; studies have identified 462 plant species, 30 of them endemic. It is an important habitat for many forest-dependent animals of the forests stretching from Europe to Anatolia. The park has an entrance checkpoint, picnic units, a kiosk and a masjid; it is suitable for a break on the journey to Yedigöller.
