The mausoleum and birthplace in Umurbey of Celâl Bayar, Türkiye's third President.
Its story
Celâl Bayar was born in 1883 in Umurbey village in Gemlik and served as Türkiye's third President from 1950 to 1960. After his death in 1986 he was buried in the village where he was born, and a mausoleum was created for his grave. The house in the village where he was born has been arranged as a museum, displaying his personal belongings and documents. Umurbey has a quiet village atmosphere among olive groves. It can be added as a short stop on the journey between Gemlik and İznik.
