Issız Han
Karacabey, Bursa
An early Ottoman caravanserai standing alone in the open countryside near Karacabey.
Its story
Issız Han is a staging han on the Karacabey plain, on the old caravan route running west from Bursa. Thought to have been built in the early Ottoman period, the rectangular building has walls of cut stone and brick. It takes its name ('the Lonely Han') from standing alone, far from any settlement. Having fallen into ruin over the centuries, the building has been placed under protection through repair work. It can be added with a short detour to a trip to Uluabat Gölü and Gölyazı.
