A traditional Ottoman house in Yenişehir, famed for its painted decoration dating to the 18th century.
Its story
Şemaki House is one of the most valuable surviving examples of Yenişehir's old residential fabric. The two-story timber house is especially notable for the painted (kalem işi) landscape scenes and decorations covering the walls and ceilings inside. The building has been restored and opened to visitors as a house museum. The rooms display items reflecting the life of the period. Yenişehir is also known as the town Osman Gazi used for a time as his base in the founding years of the Ottoman state.
