Its story
The castle's founder and exact date are unknown; it is accepted as having been used in the Persian, Pontic, Roman and Byzantine periods. It passed to the Turks in 1074 and was repaired and enlarged in the Mengujekid period. In the structure, consisting of an inner and an outer castle, the 27-meter octagonal tower in the inner castle, the cisterns carved into the rock and the Kız Kalesi (Maiden's Castle) at the corner of the outer castle stand out. From the castle, last restored in 2003, the district and its surroundings can be viewed.
