Its story
The monastery developed in the 6th century around Simeon the Younger, known for his life of seclusion on top of a pillar. In the middle of the octagonal courtyard is the base of the pillar on which the saint lived, surrounded by churches and monastic units. The view from the hill over the Asi delta and the Mediterranean is impressive. The site is reached by stabilized roads, and the remains are in the open.
