Its story
Until the 1920s Isparta was home to a large Greek Orthodox (Rum) community. The Aya Payana Church is one of the buildings remaining from this period, dated to 1750. Used for different purposes for a long time after the population exchange, the church is one of the rare traces recalling the city's multicultural past. Access to the interior may be seasonal; its architecture can also be examined from outside.
