Devlethan Mosque
Yalvaç, Isparta
A historic mosque in the middle of the Yalvaç bazaar, known for its woodwork.
Its story
The Devlethan Mosque stands in the middle of Yalvaç's historic bazaar and is one of the district's best-known buildings. Its wooden columns and ceiling work offer a local example of the wooden mosque tradition in Anatolia. Çınaraltı, right around it, is a traditional meeting place where people chat in the shade of centuries-old plane trees. The mosque and its surroundings should be visited together with the bazaar, where crafts such as felt-making and leatherwork live on.
