Haseki Hürrem Sultan Hammam

A double hammam between Hagia Sophia and the Sultanahmet Mosque, built by Mimar Sinan for Hürrem Sultan.
Its story
The hammam was built by Mimar Sinan in 1556 in the name of Hürrem Sultan, wife of Süleyman the Magnificent. Its symmetrical double-bath plan, with the women's and men's sections arranged one after the other on the same axis, is one of Sinan's most remarkable works of this type. Used for various purposes for a long time in the 20th century, the building reopened as a hammam in 2011 after a comprehensive restoration. Its exterior and domes can easily be seen while strolling around Sultanahmet.
