Kadıköy Historic Market
Kadıköy, İstanbul
A historic neighborhood market behind the Kadıköy pier, full of fishmongers, delicatessens and spice sellers.
Its story
The market continues the centuries-old trading tradition around Kadıköy's pier. Fishmongers, pickle shops, nut sellers and delicatessens line the narrow streets, especially Güneşlibahçe and Mühürdar streets. Within the market are also buildings such as the 19th-century Greek Orthodox Church of St. Euphemia (Aya Efimia) and the Armenian Church of Surp Takavor. It is one of the best stops for getting to know Kadıköy's daily life and food culture up close.
