Its story
The pavilion was built in 1857 in the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid to a design by Nikoğos Balyan, replacing earlier wooden pavilions. Standing on the shore of the recreation ground known as the 'Sweet Waters of Asia', the building was used for the sultan's short rests and hunting trips. The stone decoration and staircase on its sea-facing facade are regarded as among the most elegant on the Bosphorus. The pavilion, under the National Palaces administration, is open to visitors as a museum.
