Its story
Ilgarini Cave is about 36 km northeast of Pınarbaşı, near the village of Yamanlar, within the boundaries of the Küre Mountains National Park. According to the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, it is 858 meters long and 250 meters deep, and is counted among Türkiye's deepest caves. At the entrance there are the remains of a settlement thought to belong to the Byzantine period and a ruined cistern. The section full of stalactites is called the 'Chandelier Hall'; in the depths, traces of human life going back to 2000 BC have been found. The cave can be reached, accompanied by a guide, on a hike whose last two hours are spent in steep, humid forest.
