Its story
The Abdurrahman Paşa Mosque was built in 1582 in the Tosya district center, above the Hanönü square. Mimar Sinan undertook its design from Istanbul, and his students carried out the construction on site. The identity of the mosque's patron, Abdurrahman Paşa, is not fully known. Heavily damaged in the 1943 Tosya earthquake, the building has preserved its authenticity through repairs. The mosque, whose endowment includes shops and a hamam, serves today as the district's largest mosque.
