Lüleburgaz Sokollu Mehmed Paşa Hammam
Lüleburgaz, Kırklareli
The double hammam by Mimar Sinan of the Sokollu Mehmed Paşa Complex; the municipal council building after restoration.
Its story
The hammam was built by Mimar Sinan as part of the Sokollu Mehmed Paşa Complex in Lüleburgaz; as it has no inscription, the complex's date of 1569–1570 is used. It is a rectangular-plan double hammam running east–west: the women's section is on the east and the men's on the west, each consisting of a changing room, cool room and hot room. Its walls are cut stone and its domes brick. Long used as a warehouse and fallen into disrepair, the building was repaired in 2013 and is used today as the municipal council building.
