Prince Mikasa Japanese Memorial Garden
Kaman, Kırşehir
A Japanese garden in the middle of the steppe at Çağırkan, established in 1993 in memory of the Japanese Prince Mikasa, who started the Kalehöyük excavations, with a waterfall and artificial lake.
Its story
The Prince Mikasa Japanese Memorial Garden was established in 1993 by the Middle Eastern Culture Center in Japan in the village of Çağırkan, attached to Kaman. The garden was laid out in memory of the Japanese Prince Takahito Mikasa, who pioneered the start of the Kalehöyük excavations, and to offer a recreation area to local people. Surrounded by waterfalls, an artificial pond and trees that take on different colors with the seasons, the garden attracts great interest especially in autumn. It is referred to as one of the large Japanese gardens outside Japan and is right next to the Kalehöyük Archaeology Museum.
