Its story

Kaman-Kalehöyük is a multi-layered mound on the road to the village of Çağırkan, about 3 km east-northeast of the Kaman district. It is about 280 meters in diameter and 16 meters high. Since 1986 it has been excavated under the direction of Sachihiro Omura on behalf of the Middle Eastern Culture Center in Japan and the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology. The excavations have identified four main cultural layers belonging to the Ottoman period, the Iron Age–Phrygian period, the Middle and Late Bronze Age and the Early Bronze Age. The finds are displayed at the nearby Kalehöyük Archaeology Museum.
