Saatçi Ali Efendi Mansion

A 19th-century mansion preserved with traditional timber architecture in İzmit's old neighborhoods.
Its story
The Saatçi Ali Efendi Mansion is one of the best surviving examples of İzmit's old hillside neighborhood fabric. With its bay-windowed facade, woodwork and inner hall (sofa) plan, the mansion bears the features of a 19th-century Ottoman town house. After restoration it began to be used for cultural purposes. Together with other historic mansions nearby, it forms a short walking route reflecting İzmit's old face. It is close to Orhan Mosque.
