Its story

This monument carved from basalt depicts the Storm God standing on a mountain god between two lions. It is dated to the Hittite Imperial Age, the 13th century BC, and is thought to have been left unfinished. The original block, weighing about 70 tons, still lies today on the slope west of the village, near where it was carved. A copy of the monument is displayed in the garden of the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara. It can be visited together with Eflatunpınar on a route following the Hittite traces around Beyşehir.
