Its story
The Pir Hüseyin Bey Mosque, also known as the Büyük (Great) Mosque, was commissioned in 811 AH (1408 AD), in the period of the Turgutoğulları who ruled the region. With its prayer hall divided into three aisles by two rows of five wooden columns, its wooden ceiling and its rubble-stone walls, the building continues the area's tradition of mosques with wooden posts. The muezzin's gallery and minbar were renewed in 1894 with the contribution of Hacı Abdullah Ağa, one of the notables of Sarayönü, and the minaret was added in 1944. The building, owned by the Foundations administration, was registered in 1992. Right next to it are the Aşçı Baba Tomb and the Pir Hüseyin Bey Fountain.
