Its story
The church rising at the southern end of the village of Anıtlı (Hah) is called Yoldath Aloho in Syriac and El Harda in Arabic. A legend links its founding to the birth of Jesus; researchers, however, think that a Roman structure in the form of a triumphal arch was converted into a church in the 5th-6th century, while some sources date its construction to the 8th century. With its square plan and central dome, rare around Mardin, it resembles Deyrulzafaran; the outer superstructure of the dome and the bell tower are 20th-century additions. The ruined Church of Mor Sobo can also be seen in the same village. Both buildings are among the Tur Abdin components added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2021.
