St. Paul's Well
Tarsus, Mersin
An ancient well believed to be in the courtyard of St. Paul's house; a stop for Christian pilgrims.
Its story
Tarsus is known as the city where the apostle Paul was born. According to tradition, the well in the middle of Old Tarsus belonged to his family's house, and its water is believed to have healing properties. Around the well, the remains of a Roman-period house can be seen under protective glass. Together with the Church of St. Paul, it is at the center of the city's faith tourism route.
