Its story
It is reported that the first settlement in Mollakent was founded by Kara Abdal, who came to the region at the end of the 13th century, and that he had first a mosque and then, at the beginning of the 14th century, a madrasa built. Part of the north wall of the madrasa with its portal, which collapsed over time, has remained standing, and according to its inscription a new building was built adjoining this wall in 1818–1819. The madrasa paused during the First World War years, reopened in 1925 and ended its activities in the 1990s; the building, registered in 1988, is not used today. The madrasa is on the northern edge of the Mollakent Cemetery; nearby are the Mollakent Mosque and a tomb. The site, which is on the provincial culture directorate's tour route, should be visited from outside and respectfully, as the buildings may be neglected.
