İnceburun Lighthouse
Merkez, Sinop
A lighthouse at İnceburun, Türkiye's northernmost tip, operating since 1863 and maintained by the same family for generations.
Safety warning
Its story
The İnceburun Lighthouse was established in 1863 by Michel Pasha, known for running lighthouses in the Ottoman period. The light of the lighthouse, 9 meters above the ground and 26 meters above the sea, can be seen from about 18 miles away. The same family is known to have looked after the lighthouse for five generations. Because İnceburun is the northernmost point of Türkiye, visitors see it as a symbolic stop. The lighthouse and its surroundings belong to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety; from the rocky shore around the cape, the wide horizon of the Black Sea can be enjoyed.
