Uşak Bedesten
Merkez, Uşak
A two-story stone building commissioned from an Italian architect in 1901, later turned into the Money Changers' Bazaar.
Its story
The bedesten in the Mendepazarı quarter was built in 1901 by an Italian architect. Evliya Çelebi is known to have noted in the 17th century that Uşak 'has no bedesten'; this building made up for that lack much later. The two-story stone building was repaired in the 1980s and turned into a bazaar of jewelers and money changers. Today it is a shopping spot where traditional handicrafts are also displayed.
