Its story

Uşaklı Höyük is in the village of Büyüktaşlık, attached to Sorgun, north of Kerkenes Dağı, on the south bank of the Eğri Öz Deresi. With the main mound of about 2 hectares and the wide terrace surrounding it, it forms a settlement area of 10 hectares in total. The settlement, which began at the end of the 3rd millennium BC, experienced its most brilliant period in the Middle and Late Bronze Age and continued from the Iron Age to the Late Roman and Byzantine periods. The monumental Hittite buildings uncovered in excavations have strengthened the view that the city may be Zippalanda, the center of the Storm God cult. It is about two days' walk from the Hittite capital Hattusa.
