Kurşunlu Mosque and Complex
Odunpazarı, Eskişehir
An Ottoman complex in Odunpazarı completed by Çoban Mustafa Paşa in 1525, consisting of a mosque, imaret, tekke and caravanserais.
Its story
The Kurşunlu Complex was commissioned by the vizier Çoban Mustafa Paşa in the first quarter of the 16th century; the inscription on the mosque door gives the date 1525. The complex contains a mosque, imaret, madrasa/tekke rooms, a tomb and two caravanserais; one of the caravanserais is known to be mentioned among the works of Mimar Sinan. The zaviye was over time converted into a Mevlevi lodge and kept this function until the closure of the tekkes in 1925. Today some parts of the complex are used as the Meerschaum Museum and art workshops. With its lead-covered dome, it is the most prominent building in the Odunpazarı skyline.
